Description

The 1930 47' ACF LIBERTE is one of the last remaining American-built yachts from this era, originally constructed by American Car & Foundry in Wilmington, Delaware. Built for Boston businessman Griswald J. Hayward in 1929, she has maintained significant historical provenance through multiple ownership transitions. The vessel features a solidly constructed mahogany hull that has been reinforced with C-Flex fiberglass bottom treatment, protecting against typical wooden hull degradation.

The yacht exemplifies Gatsby-era elegance with exquisitely matched mahogany wood paneling throughout. She features an aft stateroom with built-in bureaus and double berth, a convertible main saloon with hidden Pullman berths on both sides, and accommodations with large opening windows throughout for natural light and ventilation. A full head and modern Jabsco marine toilet are installed, with a Raritan ice maker present.

The helm station is well-appointed with modern equipment including a new Lewmar windlass with remote controls and a large stainless steel searchlight. The vessel features a hinged mast allowing passage under low bridges, making her suitable for The Great Loop. Decks are white with teak treads at boarding gates and stainless steel handrails. She has been extensively maintained and rebuilt under current custodian ownership, earning numerous awards on the classic boat show circuit throughout the Southern States.
