About Norway
Norway's fjord coast is one of the world's great sailing destinations, and it's genuinely awe-inspiring in person. The Geirangerfjord, Sognefjord (Europe's longest and deepest fjord), Hardangerfjord, and dozens of others create a labyrinthine world of sheer cliffs, hanging glaciers, and waterfalls that drop directly into the water from hundreds of meters above.
The sailing is excellent in summer (June–August) when the midnight sun means you can sail at any hour. The winds are variable—calm in the fjords, more brisk in the open coast—and the distances are real. The communities along the fjords are welcoming, provisioning is good in the towns, and the infrastructure supports both cruising sailors and charter guests.
What makes Norway extraordinary is the sheer scale of the scenery. Nothing quite prepares you for your first fjord. The cliffs are bigger, the waterfalls longer, and the silence deeper than anything you can imagine. This is sailing that makes you feel very small in the best possible way.
