About Seychelles
The Seychelles are immediately recognizable: massive rounded granite boulders—millions of years old—rise from turquoise water, framing some of the world's most dramatic beach scenes. The Seychelles archipelago spans 115 islands, but the Inner Islands around Mahé and Praslin are the sailing heartland.
The sailing is excellent with consistent trade winds (May–October) and calmer conditions for the rest of the year. Distances between islands are manageable, and the anchorages range from popular to completely remote. The marine life is extraordinary—the Seychelles is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, and the reefs are among the healthiest in the world. Giant tortoises roam the interior of Aldabra Atoll (one of the most pristine ecosystems on Earth).
The culture is a unique blend of African, French, British, and South Asian influences—the food is exceptional, the people are warm, and the pace of life is gentle. This is the Indian Ocean at its most civilized.
